Biomechanical Assessment | Ortho-Heel | Orthotics Specialist Scotland

Biomechanical Assessment

A lower limb biomechanical assessment is when a specialised clinician works through a structured evaluation of a patient to evaluate their unique way in which the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, bones and joints interact with their lower leg.

Walking and running movement patterns are uniquely different in each person. Everyone is unique in their own way. For this reason, it makes all of us prone to different problems throughout our lifetime.

During a biomechanical assessment a verbal history will be undertaken followed by a physical assessment. Then, your walking and / or running movements will be carefully analysed in order to establish the main reasons why key areas of the body are causing you problems. The most common problems are pain or instability. However, their are many more.

Here at Ortho-Heel we have invested in cutting edge technology to monitor, evaluate and better understand your own unique movement patterns.

We use leading computerised analysis software and hardware in order for us to develop personalised patient information. We also go one step further by using in-shoe pressure mapping systems if required to better understand the interaction between your foot & the ground to help diagnose more complex problems.
