Chris is regarded as a leading lower limb biomechanics and orthotic specialist in the UK, having a reputation for exceptional clinical practice based on a deep understanding of biomechanics & evidence-based orthotic care.
Chris has the skills to accurately assess, diagnose and treat the vast majority of foot and ankle conditions successfully. He excels in treating common foot & ankle injuries, sports injuries and managing patients who are struggling to recover from everyday painful symptoms which are impacting their quality of life.
Chris has been invited to share his knowledge at leading international conferences, discussing theories and key orthotic design parameters with the world’s leading experts. In May 2019, Chris was invited to California & San Francisco to collaborate and work with the leading world experts in lower limb biomechanics and orthotic therapy. He is one of very few UK clinicians to have been offered this opportunity & received excellent feedback on his return to the U.K.
Chris also works as a lecturer at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. In his University role, Chris teaches students lower limb biomechanics covering the most modern & up to date techniques, theories and clinical skills to allow students to treat the vast majority of patients successfully. Chris was shortlisted for best overall lecturer at the university in 2019, a testament to his teaching skills & excellent reputation amongst his students.
Chris was not only shortlisted again in 2020 for best overall lecturer at the prestigious Strathclyde 2020 teaching awards, he won the best overall lecturer. This was the top award at this prestigious ceremony. Chris Cox is the 2020 best overall teacher for Strathclyde University. A fantastic achievement.
Chris travels the UK delivering training to orthotists, podiatrists, physiotherapists and other allied healthcare professionals. Chris is one of a team of 3 who deliver a UK leading post-graduate education programme for his professional body, The British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO), This leading course teaches foot, ankle and lower leg biomechanics and discusses key treatments. This programme has trained over 70% of the orthotic profession in the UK.
Chris also has an additional keen interest in sports medicine were he has worked in a private sports medicine clinic for 8 years.
Chris was awarded the fellowship of higher education in 2019 for his contribution to teaching in the UK.

Who is Professor Kevin A. Kirby
Professor Kevin A. Kirby has authored or co-authored 28 articles in peer-reviewed journals, author of six book chapters, and has written five books on foot and lower extremity biomechanics and orthotics.
Professor Kirby has lectured internationally on foot and lower extremity biomechanics, foot orthoses, and sports medicine in China, Spain, Belgium, New Zealand, Australia, England, Dominican Republic and Canada over the past 35 years. He has also lectured extensively throughout the United States. He is a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, and the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Biomechanics at the California School of Podiatric Medicine, one of the most renowned institutions worldwide for foot orthotic education. He is also the owner of his own private practice in Sacramento, California, were he has 35+ years of experience.
